Informal poll for the full 9v9 highlander team ONLY, the results are not binding.
If we do NOT allow other teams to use ringers: We put ourselves in position to feasibly make the playoffs. If we get to our standard 3-4 wins, and pick up another win (or two) via forfeit, we'd potentially have the opportunity to play in the playoffs, where of course anything could happen and would be an awesome learning experience. If other teams needed ringers, they could choose between playing shorthanded, or forfeiting then we could play an unofficial scrim at that time (assuming they were willing) so we could still play and have fun.
As a side note, I personally don't think this morally/ethically excludes us from using ringers if other teams allow us. We are simply trying to win within the rules that all teams play by.
If we DO allow the other teams to use ringers: We potentially play more high level high intensity games by eliminating the scrims, shorthanded games, and altogether "well screw you we're leaving"'s that we'd receive by not allowing ringers, which is both good fun and good practice. We'd probably make more friends.
I think the statement "we're here to have fun" applies to both sides of the argument. One is not fundamentally more or less "fun" than the other, it's simply how one chooses to define "fun". Having a nerdy hobby and deciding you want to get really good at it and play against other people who are really good at it (winning/playoffs), is FUN for some people. For other people, simply showing up and getting to play at all and letting other people play too is fun.
So, please vote. Everyone who votes is entered in a drawing to win 2 keys.
